When it comes to self-care, people actually care less. They give food to their parents on time but forget to have it for themselves. They help their kids in sorting out school works but forget to sort out their own work desk. Result? Stress. Anxiety. Work pressure.
In Covid19 pandemic, staying mentally fit is quintessential. Designing a self-care routine can help you immensely in achieving that. How? Let's talk self-care.
What is self-care?Self-care is any activity which you do solely for your own happiness and peace of mind. For example, writing and book reading. Gardening is another self-care activity.
In a nutshell, anything that makes you calm, collected and happy is self-care. Patting your dog, taking a hot shower, drinking favorite tea/coffee, a long walk, a catnap, talking to a friend, and laughing more examples.

UNDERSTAND IT!Understanding self-care is the primary step. You need to understand that self-care routine is for YOURSELF, not for your family, friends or colleagues.
Self-care means taking care of the self and when you do self-care, you are not selfish. You are being selfless! Towards your mental, physical, psychological, emotional and overall health.
PLAN IT!
List out ALL the activities that you like/love to do. Here are 7 types of self-care activities. Want more? What about 134 self-care activities?
These articles give you a good list of activities that can help bust stress and anxiety. Here is how to plan Self-care Routine of the Day -
Make your own list now. Allocate how much time each activity requires.Decide and divide those activities in 7 days.Stick the Self-care Routine of the Day to a common place such as on the front wall or in your journal.
ACT UPON IT!Now is the time for ACTION. Every night you go to bed, revisit the next day self-care routine. It will add a boost of motivation to your day.
For example, try writing and reading on Monday. Gardening and watching movies on Tuesday. Calling friends and relatives on Wednesday. Cooking a hot meal for yourself on Thursday. Manicure and pedicure (or any other body care) on Friday. Watching movies, reading, and music on Saturday. As for Sunday, enjoy some ice-cream while journaling something.
NOTE - These are simple guidelines. Number of activities can be more or less, completely depends upon YOU. What matters most here is that you understand that self-care routine is essential, plan it and then execute it.
