I have been a writer most of my life, but never a bloggist. Or is it blogist? It doesn't like either one. Maybe it wants plain old blogger like jogger. Anyway, here goes!

I guess I'm supposed to plug my new book, "Ma Bremer's Boys". We are told to write about what we know, and reporters run into a lot of characters over a lifetime. This is a fictional cauldron of some of these characters, and features a single mother whose many challenges include two sons bent on wayward lives -- one captured by greed and ultimately the mob, the other by a surly nature that ends up with murder and life in prison.

I hope the story illustrates, in some small way, the difficulties of single moms. This mom, Molly Bremer, faced being alone in Little Rock, first during World War II, and then a lifetime of dealing with two aberrant sons.
