Leaving
I was at the exact same job for nearly a decade--eight and a half years if you want to get technical.
Unfortunately, for most of those years, I was unhappy. I felt unfulfilled and dejected. No. I felt like I was running on a treadmill, and the only thing I could watch was the series finale of Game of Thrones. To be honest, I don't think I was ever supposed to work at an office. To me, the saddest part about it is how companies hope for their workers to actually become complacent. Who cares about carpal tunnel syndrome or asthenopia? You've got job security!
Anyway, after eight and a half years, I finally gathered the courage to leave the comfort of inputting data for nearly nine hours every day to pursue something that I am legitimately passionate about.
I don't mean to drag my company through the mud. Not in the slightest. But, it's almost fascinating how much better I feel since leaving.
It hasn't even been a week, but colors seem brighter, jokes are funnier, food tastes better.
I guess what the point of this is to encourage or hopefully inspire. If you're thinking about making a change or trying something new because you're unhappy, then please take my advice: do it. Don't wait for the right time. Just don't. The time will never be right.
Take that chance, your happiness and well-being are worth it.

I went out to dinner with my friends at an old noodle house and I swear my bowl of karakuchi ramen was the tastiest meal that I've had in 2021.
