I thought big oil was the culprit….?
I had an amusing tweet this morning from the President, who, all of a sudden, seems to be on my Twitter feed without me even following, but I digress. Yay! He declares… US oil production is up since he took office. Great spin! Boo! The demand world wide is greater than the supply. Not so good, and a fact conveniently omitted.
The politicians are thumping their chests; dragging out the "let's reduce our oil dependency" bumper sticker, once again. Typical, when we are looking at $4.25 per gallon by April. "Let's push Green energy" they say. Yeah.. We've heard this battle cry for three administrations now and it is still a fact that it would be un-affordable to the average American. They also wheel out the evil oil company profit machine as well, but wait? The big guys like Exxon, Chevron; their stock is only up minimally. Hmmm? How could this be? Me thinks someone is peeing on my leg and telling me it's raining. Lord forbid, It couldn't be our elected officials looking to garnish votes, or the complicit biased media outlets on both sides of the isle pushing their party's agenda?
I was furious last week when I heard this administration pulled the plug on the Keystone pipeline from Canada. Me, and most like-minded people who don't subscribe blindly to any party, have figured out the ruse. That it was purely and simply a gesture to appease the extreme environmentalists, who fight any, and all, attempts to tap our own resources, but gladly pump copious amounts of money into politician's campaign war chests . It's been said, in their defense, that it would be SO environmentally hazardous to have a pipeline over land. Yeah? Okay…I'll bite, but someone explain how it is less of a risk shipping it by tanker, over the ocean, to China and Japan then selling it back to us? Insulting logic at best.
Once again I tout the basic problem with our political system. The special interest who hold our politicians in their pockets. The "pay to play" machine is stronger than ever, though I thought we were promised that Washington was going to be cleaned up? We have to stop believing these people at face value, and blindly following whom ever you vote for without question. They thrive on this, and things will never change for OUR good until we, as an electorate, look at them with an open mind and scrutinize everything they say. They DO lie to us. That is an undeniable fact that won't change until we hold them accountable.
Bush was held over the fire for excessive cronyism, by the media, and by his extreme partisan detractors, but when Obama does it, somehow It's alright. "He's our guy." That my friends is a sick double standard of which I find insulting. If the roles were reversed, I'd be saying the same thing, so I don't want to hear the intellectually bankrupted accusation that ; Oh he just doesn't like Obama. The information IS out there to be found. All it takes is a little effort and an un-biased outlook.
Here is a great AP report on the big oil companies not reaping huge profits..I say again, with all candor…AP; Not Fox, nor MSNBC.
