out of the storm – GRATITUDE

As a writer I love words and have had 5 books published, but the best words of all are from the Best Book of all in which God says ‘I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly.’  Can we believe this promise in our current COVID world? I believe these encouraging words are relevant in every age and applicable to every generation.

While out walking recently I felt the sun warming my back and realised that no-one can lock down the sun. Ducks and a beautiful regal swan sailed by on the lake and I was so thankful that we can’t lock down the birds. Flowers were open, drawing me close with their colour and perfume, definitely not in lock down. Returning home I listened to my favourite music which always calms my mind and spirit. Music also can’t be locked down.

So much to be grateful for in a very tough and difficult time. Not everything is locked down.  If we take time to look up, we can choose gratitude over despair and find courage to fight on. Viktor Frankel, writing about his concentration camp experiences, penned these challenging words:

Two men looked through prison bars –
one saw mud, the other stars.
