Pandemic Writing

Synopsis: I have a new book out (Spies Never Quit) and it's free to download on Book Cave through the end of August. It's a light spy-thriller that crosses Charlie's Angels with the Gallagher Girls.

Rambling Thoughts:
I'm sure that years from now, we'll have all sorts of phrases about activities during the pandemic: pandemic eating, pandemic exercising, pandemic babies. For me, it was pandemic writing. I had just launched my middle-grade sci-fi Frozen Secrets in January, and part of my marketing plan was to get free copies into school libraries. Well, when the pandemic arrived in March, I figured it wouldn't do any good to get books into the schools if there weren't any students there to read them. So I decided to use the extra time (my job had me work from home until the vaccine came out) to write something else. Instead of writing the sequel to Frozen Secrets (though I did plot it out), I decided to write something completely different. So I wrote an entire science fiction story about mankind colonizing a nearby star system. Then, because that took so long to write, I decided I needed to write something shorter so that I could get a whole series out faster (trying to go with the advice to write a series in order to get readers hooked). I decided to write a spy-thriller series about a group of college girls who go on missions (like Charlie's Angels) but who are trained as undercover agents rather than private investigators. In the end, the spy girls books were nearly as long as the sci-fi book, so I didn't save myself any time. But it's a completely different genre, so I think I'll be able to get a feel for whether there's a market there.

They're all meant to be cozy/light reads (I don't take myself too seriously), and I couldn't bring myself to put any profanity or sexual content in them, so they're safe to recommend to any age level. Just be warned, there is some romantic tension in there. I read it out loud to my youngest two boys (ages 10 & 12), and they enjoyed it despite the mushy stuff. It would be a great read for anyone who enjoyed Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls (Ally Carter Gallagher girls collection 1-5 Books set).
