Parentheses... The great debate...
A note of interest to my readers and perspective readers - YES. I utilize parentheses in The Chronicles of Benjamin Bright. I know, unorthodox to say the least.
And that is precisely what I intended when I utilized them to provide a unique, and personal touch to the first person narrative of Benjamin, the series protagonist. They are meant to accentuate the story with little bits of Benjamin’s experiences. Asides, if you will. Which are intended to add a dash of color and depth to the story, and his life as he spins his magical tale to you.
My editor, beta readers, and I discussed several different ways to accomplish this as book one was developed and polished for publishing. And, after much debate and deliberation we agreed that this was the most unique and reader friendly option that wouldn’t be considered copying other authors.
This style is particular to Benjamin’s story. And I do hope you are as excited as I am as October, and the release of book two in The Darkling Rising cycle of The Chronicles of Benjamin Bright: The Soul Collector © draws closer, and closer.
