The anthropomorphic conception of God – that He is like us, but bigger and better – has dominated traditional religious thinking in the West. But it is limited, for our desire to create Him in our own image ultimately reflects our own narcissism. A truer path to conceiving god is through the mother: feeling her love for us allows us to glimpse beyond, to what Dr. Diamond terms The More, which, he suggests, is closely aligned to the oriental ideas of The Tao and The Way.
