I'm torn over the subject of ghosts. On one hand, I swear I've seen or sensed them in my life, and on the other hand, I have a hard time making the existence of spirits jive with my current view of the universe.
That duality speaks to most of us. We don't believe in something, and yet at another level, apart from the cognitive, we can't help ourselves. What need is fulfilled by that skepticism about that which we cannot see or touch?
The occult is a word for hidden knowledge. Perhaps it is hidden because we can't handle it?
