Marc Andre Leclerc - Alpinist

Marc Andre Leclerc was an Alpinist extraordinaire, climbing solo through rock, ice and snow solo for his own benefit. When he was a little boy, he poured through images of famous mountaineers, and decided that was what he wanted to do. The seed was planted.

As writers, there is a valuable lesson we can learn from this extraordinary man, and it lies in his boyhood, for from the dreams of youth come the fruitions of reality years later as an adult. Picture yourself thus, as a writer, one of the few who climb the literary ladder to heights because of what you saw as a boy or girl. Or perhaps you had no such inclination when you were young, nonetheless, remember the power of youth, for in that you can become the writer you dreamed of in adulthood. This involves writing for yourself, writing what you want, to hell with the others.

To paraphrase William Blake: My job is not to reason nor compare, my job is to create. This is the way, as writers, we can climb to the heights of Marc Andre Leclerc, not ideally as a youth inspired by images (although so much the better if this means you), but as a way to understand the power of human intention.

Happy writing!
