Ordered. Jan 25 seems like a long time from now, but I guess it will get here faster than expected as they usually do.
Well, this is good news! Something to look forward to in the dreary depths of winter. I’ve pre-ordered.
Heading over to Amazon now! Well, I'm in Amazon and looked up the title and also your name. It's not there! Thought it might be too early, but I see someone else was able to pre-order. Hm....where is it??

Absolutely loved Devil Up!! Very excited you're doing another in the same vein. Thanks for the Christmas present of something to look forward to in January!
Ever since reading A Short History and all of its successors (and loving them!!), I've lived in perpetual hope that you'd keep writing. Your unique, quirky Southern voice speaks to me. In fact, I read your prose aloud for maximum effect. Just pre-ordered this latest title. You've given this fan -- and fellow Tar Heel -- something to look forward to in the new year. I'm laughing already!
Hi Emily,I'm grateful for your good opinion. I'll try to keep writing if you'll keep reading.
Thanks for checking in.
I will second Emily's comments. I found Short History in the remainder bin at the Davis-Kidd in Knoxville in 1987 and have bought virtually every book you've written since (minus TOP OF THE ROCK). I even have two you signed for me!I will keep reading (and buying) if you keep writing.
Thanks Andrew. I appreciate your support through the years, but the remainder bin? That stings a little. Though I do have happy memories of Davis-Kidd.
I just saw that Goodreads will be discontinuing this feature (following authors), so thought I would post this before it goes away. I was talking to my ex the other night and he told me that his Olli group in Carson City, NV (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) will be reading A Short History of a Small Place! They just finished a Zadie Smith book, so you are in good company.

I never expected to write a western, let alone two, but I found that Devil Up didn't entirely exorcise the urge. So here's one more. It features an undertaker, a Pacific Islander, assorted outlaws, and a cow.
