Winner!

So, as anyone who follows me knows, November is national novel writing month, and each year I take the challenge to write 50,000 words in only thirty days. It has generally worked well for me, as the structure of the challenge helps me to focus, and forces me to progress on my projects. in fact, nine of my twelve completed novels have started out as nanowrimo projects. I’ve won the challenge every year I’ve tried except for one, which was the November two years ago when I suffered the greatest personal tragedy of my life.

Well, this year, I took up the task of working on the novel that I had started and failed to complete that year. It’s been basically in the exact same state for the last two years. I started with 28,000 words, and finished the month with 78,000 words and a completed first draft. I can’t tell you how relieved I feel after finally pushing through that project, which happens to be the third book in my Valoria series.

So, current plans. I hope to have the second Valoria book published shortly, followed by the book I wrote while I was unable to work on book three. Also, I plan to start writing a potential third series. It’s really nice that I have completely finished the draft for book three. Often after nanowrimo, I’m left with a book that is well on its way, but not yet complete, and it seems to take me a good portion of the year to finish it up. Well, this year I have a completely blank slate, so I’ll have an opportunity to start a new project that I’ve been contemplating. I’m pretty excited.

So, here’s hoping I’ve turned a corner and am officially back on track. Wish me well, and watch for two new published novels in the near future. Thanks for all of your support!

Here’s a preview of artwork that I’m likely going to use for the cover of my third Valoria novel:
