An Advent-urous Calendar!
What did you get in your advent calendar today?
A chocolate robin or chocolate Christmas tree? If you like your advent themed, perhaps you got a chocolate Baby Yoda or Spiderman? If you like your advent cheap and cheerful, you might have prized open the door to a simple picture; if you like your advent expensive and extravagant, perhaps you got a luxury shimmer lip gloss or organic shampoo. Whatever it was behind cardboard door Number 1, I bet it wasn’t as exciting as MY advent surprise this morning!
Every year, my sister, LJ, makes me a personalised advent calendar (because that’s the sort of awesomely creative person she is); and every year is different from the last. I never know what the theme will be until I open that first little door, and I’m never disappointed. Whether it’s my favourite chocolate wrapped in a Bible verse, or a picture of a famous Tom (don’t ask… but you’d be surprised by how many famous Toms you can get in a 25-day calendar), it’s always something unique and fun.
And this year, I think LJ might have outdone herself. For the first time, the advent came with strict instructions to wait for a text once I’d unwrapped gift Number 1. So, once I’d opened the first prize of the calendar, at precisely 07:00 hours, I received a text containing a set of instructions, which I followed carefully (I’m making this sound much harder than it was and, yes, I totally felt like a secret agent on a secret mission) to end up with this…
Advent Number 1: LEGO! LEGO!!
I’ve never been so excited over two pieces of grey plastic in my entire adult life.
WHAT IS IT GOING TO BE???
I swear the next 24 days are going to be the most exhilarating of 2021. Move over tinsel, stockings and mince pies… Christmas is all about the Great Lego Build this year.
Not sure what it’s going to be yet, but, honestly, my first thought was that it’s going to be a Death Star (not sure what that says about me… don’t really want to know…). And then I was like: would LJ really put a Death Star in my advent calendar? And I decided that, since she knows me extremely well, then yes… yes, she would.
But who knows! It could be anything! I’m wavering between something Star Wars-y or very Christmassy (Death Star in a Santa hat?). I just hope my LEGO building skills are up to scratch. There’s a lot that could go wrong here without supervision.
If you want to have a guess at what this might turn out to be, just comment below.
But if you’re a Grand Lego Master and have immediately recognise what it is, just on this first step, then I’m seriously impressed, but, please, no spoilers!
