New Website
I’m changing websites from Go Daddy to a custom website built by a company UENI. They offer a custom website for one price, $149.00 which includes the hosting plan forever. Go Daddy is nice but not cheap. I have to pay for the Go Daddy builder website every year. I need to curb costs. The new website is customizable by myself and is responsive meaning you should be able to view the website on your computer, notepad or phone. I should be able to sell paperback books from my website using PayPal.
Book sales are decent. I’ve sold more books this past month than in the past year. That sounds like a lot of books but it’s not. I haven’t covered the cost of the cover for Deadly Pranks or The Kirtland Killer. Let me tell you a story, something kind of interesting. I write all my fiction suspense books about a small town in Northeast Ohio named Kirtland. I actually grew up in Kirtland and graduated from there a long time ago. I thought writing about Kirtland would be a good idea. After all, writers like Stephen King write about their home towns all the time. Not that I put myself in King’s league. I don’t. It’s only a comparison. Anyway, when I advertised the cover for The Kirtland Killer, several local citizens complained about using the town name in my books. They felt it made the city seem crime ridden or something like that. At the same time, other citizens supported me. They understood my books were fiction and they felt writing about their town was great. These folks want me to write a third book about Kirtland and I’m thinking about doing it.
Kirtland is famous for being the early headquarters of the Latter-Day Saints, where Joseph Smith, along with members of his congregation, built the first Mormon Temple. The church still sits today, at the top of the Kirtland Hill on Chillicothe Road.
There are also some bad things which happened in Kirtland, not fiction but real life murders. The city of Kirtland is also famous for the Kirtland Barn Murders. On April 10, 1989, in Kirtland, Jeffry Lundgren ordered two of his followers to dig a pit in the barn where they murdered and buried the entire Dennis Avery family. Who can say what goes through the mind of a self proclaimed cult leader. Jeffry Lundgren was subsequently convicted and execution in Ohio’s death chamber. Lundgren’s wife and other cult members were also convicted of lessor charges.
