Audiobook Fanatics
I truly love writing stories that I can turn into a great audiobook. My passion for audiobooks came about when I worked at a baseball stadium and would drive different machines all day; golf carts, floor scrubbers etc., and I became fascinated with the audiobook platform. To me, there was almost something more unique and special about it than watching a film, or reading a book. If was like the best of both worlds, my mind truly imagining the story as the narrator tells it.
My favorite audiobook, still to this day, is The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson. Something truly special happened during Christopher Lane's near-perfect performance that inspired me to become a writer, if only you create similar styled audiobooks to listen to while I work. So I did. Every chance I got during my real job (at the baseball stadium) to take a break I would. I would go to the restroom or the break room and I'd write. During lunch I would write, and when I wasn't writing, would be thinking of what to write next. I was determined to create some incredible audiobooks, but not just one's similar to Run Diary.
In the following few years, I'm proud to say that I now I have over 20 audiobook credits to my name, spanning numerous genres and subgenres. So far, my favorite audiobook that I've written is Last of a Dying Breed, which was narrated by the man who inspired me- the great Christopher Lane! I decided to reach out to him after I did a few audiobooks with other narrators and gained my confidence. Then, to my surprise he responded to my message and agreed to narrate my project. I subsequently sent over my story with a fine comb, rewriting it several times before finally being satisfied. The audiobook came out better than I could've ever dreamed!
I know I'm the writer of the story, therefore I'm as biased as it gets- but I truly believe it's one of the greatest audiobooks that came out of 2021. The running audio length is 1hr, so significantly shorter than Rum Diary, but I promise my fans that it delivers an equivalent bang! The story is greatly inspired by Run Diary, and is more or less about a music journalist who travels from Tennessee to Ohio to cover the live music scene and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While there he become entangled with a cast of crazy hillbillies and gets far more than just the story he set out yo cover- all while covering the final stages of Outlaw Country music. It's full of laughs and knowledge, and I think fans of Thompson will dig it! The audiobook also has several sequels, including Bizarre: A Bad Trip Into Strangeness.
After I finished that book I focused heavily on Documentary Audiobooks, such as; Quantrill's Raiders, Secret Society and Fräulein Monsters. History buffs should absolutely love these 30 minute docs. I also did a self-help book, with my audiobook How to Grow Psilocybin Mushrooms. Then I dabbled in the Giallo and Horror genres, creating audiobook titled such as Motel on Murder Mountain, Frankenstein '30 and Eaten Alive 2.
If any of these titles sound interesting to you, feel free to reach out and I could likely send a promo code your way! All the best- Carl E. Miller
