Finding My Voice

This last year has brought quite a bit of change. Three publication contracts. Adjusting to the editing process. And finding my voice as an author. I often tried to write erotic romance without really understanding what the point of erotic romance was.

I suppose I thought it was just supposed to be sex for for sex sake. But then you get into is it porn or such stuff. And I find when I write erotic romance now it's with an intense emotional connection between the characters. And that's what makes the sex so hot.

But the lovemaking for me is a by product of the story going on between the characters. Like in my current project, a post apocalyptic erotic romance, the Boxer, the hero and heroine were once imprisoned together. The hero had been a less than reputable type who took the heroine under his wing and taught her to fight. They'd also fallen in love. As punishment for this he'd been transferred to another prison. Unbeknownst to him, however, she was pregnant.

The story picks up with the newly restored government freeing the boxers. And she is reunited with the would be hero. What will become of them? I'm not sure but it's obvious the old feelings are still there, even if he still tends to play both ends against the middle. *Sigh, I always did love a good anti-hero.

My first book from MuseItUp was No Ordinary Love, sci-fi erotic romance. My second book, Another Way to Die was a dark romantic suspense tale. And my third book from MuseItUp, due out at the end of August is Book 1 in the Gladiator Chronicles, GLADIATOR, a post apocalyptic erotic romance in the vein of Mad Max and the epic Gladiator mashed up together. The first 1,000 people to respond to this here, on blogger, on FB, or Twitter will receive a free digital sneak peek of GLADIATOR.

I love writing, and I love interacting here. I hope you sign up.

Aruana Amy, it sounds very interesting. I always have to take my hat off to writers. Shy sci-fi? How do you do research for that?
