I was listening to a popular song on YouTube and I was disappointed (and almost angry) with how many cuss words and F-bombs were in the music video. I was even more discouraged because this was from a musical artist that I grew up with and considered her once to be a role model to the younger generation.

In my anger, I also grew ever-thoughtful... "Okay. If you don't want to be a role model to this younger generation...than I will."

I want to share with you an excerpt from my upcoming book, "Be the Sunshine":

"Those who know me best know this fun fact about me: I refuse to cuss. My “curse words” are: Curses, Golly Gee Whiz and Golly. I try to imitate a G-rated atmosphere around me at all times. And what happens is, my co-workers and friends don’t cuss around me. They may start saying a word, then they will see me nearby and won’t finish their sentence. I bring a change to my environment and I don’t even have to do anything. I don’t have to say a word. My example sets the tone and raises the standard.

Look for ways to be an inspiration to others. Be the best version of yourself so that you can help other people be the best version of themselves. If you talk to another Christian about how you are volunteering at soup kitchens, how you are fasting and praying, how you are attending a Bible study and setting prayer times each morning, well, your passion and faith will fan the flame to those who hear it."
