The concept was first conceived in the Troubleshooter novels. Readers already know the stories take place in New Haven—an enclosed city styled after the Art Deco era, complete with gangsters, molls, and private eyes. What Havenworld does is widen the scope to take a look at the larger picture: other Havens and their surrounding territories. The expansion allows me to not only open the world to a slew of new characters and locales, it also permits me to write connected stories in entirely different genres, as shown below with Phase One.

So we explore vigilante superhero concepts with Vigil, a ragtag bounty hunter crew with Nimrod Squad, cyberpunk noir with Syn City, and weird west/post-apocalypse with the Desolate Man. Four entirely different settings, yet all in the same dystopian world. And this is just the beginning. I already have plans for Phase Two and beyond. It’s a lot to look forward to, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
