AKA: Pen Name

AKA: pseudonym

I’ve never hidden the fact that Ann T. Bugg is a pen name. My first published novel was one of my women’s fiction (Dustin Time). That led to a small publisher digging around on my site, where I actually had teasers of the middle grade books I was toying with. When they asked to publish them, I knew I had to pick a different name to publish them under. Why? Imagine your 3rd grader saying, “Oh! June Kramin! I like her Through the Mirror and Into Snow book, Mommy! Let’s buy *insert any of my books here*.” Now…even though I always say those are far from erotica, it’s still not something middle graders should read. Along with…”Mommy. She says that word a lot that Daddy says when he hits his thumb with the hammer.” LOL

It really only took a minute to come up with Ann T. Bugg. I have been June-Bug for a good part of my life. When my 1st friend to have a baby handed her precious wee one to me, she said, “Here’s your Auntie Bug” and I melted. Every kid from that point on who entered my life called me Auntie Bug. (When I wrote it though, it was Auntybug.) Friends still call me Bug and even my grandkids. I started them young because I knew it was something they’d be able to say early on. My license plates have GRAMBUG.

So…even though I did this to myself, I’m not sure why I didn’t expect people to address me as Ann sometimes. LOL It wasn’t a plan well thought out. I usually have both genres of books at signings so it’s all good. I did actually want a pen name for my women’s fiction but my aunt said, “No. I don’t want to have to explain it to people. Use your name.” So there it is. Aunt of the Year that she is, she won.

I checked this morning – I’m happy to see book #1 holding on to the top 10!

I’ve been at a stand-still with this series for many years. Lately, I have been thinking of adding to it. It’ll be a trick since I had the girls outgrow their adventures, but we’ll see what they can make me do. I never expected there to be a book 2, let alone 8. Maybe book 1 1/2 will come out like the Lion King. LOL
