Prayer
My little prayer plant has been around since 1994. We’ve been through thick and thin together. It’s moved with me about 4 times. There’s been a couple of times I thought it was a goner. It had lost all but two leaves over the winter. But it has rallied and has gifted me with a bloom that I haven’t seen in a while.
How’s your prayer life? Does it ebb and flow? Do you feel strongly connected to God in your prayer life? Or are you just going through the motions and checking the proverbial box?
Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. Jesus prayed for them, and He prayed for us. Scripture admonishes us to pray without ceasing. Prayer is like breathing, it should be just as important as oxygen to us to have that line of communication open with the One who made us.
Oh don’t get me wrong, He knows everything about you. Even the smallest of details that no one else knows. He knows your hurts, your struggles, your concerns. But just like in your relationship with your spouse, or close friend, communication is key to a vital, healthy bond. He wants to hear from you!
Is your prayer life weak? Pray. Is your prayer life on life support? Pray! Continue regular communication with your Father in heaven, and seek the blooms that come from daily nourishment in His presence.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Romans 12:11-12
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Colossians 4:2
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
1 Peter 3:12
I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me;
hear me when I call to you.
May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.
Psalm 141:1-2
