IS A COWBOY
Ah yes… my very first series. How does an author choose his/her favorite story? — That’s easy!
For me it is easy since my stories come to me, I believe myself to be but the vessel for every story that I write. Creepy? – Perhaps. Unbelievable? – Not at all, in my opinion.
Love is a Cowboy came to me as easy as making my favorite chocolate chip cookies; mix, spoon, bake, taste the deliciousness.
Though my books are narrated by both main characters. I believe that it is only one of them who speaks to me the most. For Love is a Cowboy, it was Daniel who kept me awake at night. Johanna came to me after researching the females of the Wild West and though she opens the book, it is Daniel who took most of my attention. It was him whom I wanted to get in touch with. It was a beautiful love story and it took me from an amateurish writer to, wow! I can write!
Then came Patience is a Cowboy. I thought of going in order but since Aaron and MJ had already started a romance, it was them whom I concentrated on. I wanted to keep both their innocence and sweetness while showing Aaron’s strength as a Rockwell and make it a coming of age for MJ, since she really was portraited as childish in Love is a Cowboy.
Jaime followed. Now. That one I loved writing. I was able to introduce a culture that has always had my attention; Gypsies. Since watching The Hunchback of Notre-Dame when I still considered myself a child, I always wanted to learn more about gypsies and I was even nicknamed “Gitana” by a Spaniard friend of mine, because I reminded him of one. Jaime and Lucinda had my attention from the very beginning to the very end. Strength is a Cowboy spoke of both my character’s strength.
Matt’s story: Hope is a Cowboy. That was my first foray into the dark side of life. The dark side of the Wild West and many like civilizations which came before it or have since existed after it. It was Lina who was my main speaker. It was her story I was trying to convey and Matt’s pain and hope added to it. Both had so much hope.
Once done, I had to give every one of them a happy ending. I needed to know, for myself, what had happened to the family. Truth be told, I still want to know more. Does Robbie and Sueann end up together? What of little Stan’s predictions? Let’s not mention Josh and Ned need their own stories, right?
Well, let’s see what 2022 brings.
