I think the lesson here is it's okay to not know something. Sometimes people feel embarrassed they don't know someone or something so they just play along. Horrified that Bandera was responsible for massacres and ethnic cleansing and a Nazi collaborator during WWII.

Oh Stephen, that does not make it better in any way.
Oh Stephen, that does not make it better in any way. That is comparable to ignorantly praising Hitler.

No not really, I mean not everyone knows who figures of history are, heck I didn't even know who Bandera was, until just now, I am not a history buff, I do know about WW2 and Hitler, but not all the figures

I mean, he was told on that phone call that the awful things Bandera did against Jews were "accidental" and then proceeded to call him a great man. It's one thing to concede the fact that terrible people in history have done some good, but it's a completely different thing to call those people great when they have harmful racist ideologies.
It’s okay! It happens. I wanted to say too thank you so much for your work. My dad really loved your work, and it is nice to have that connection with him, my mom as well. I am currently reading The Stand, very fitting! I appreciate you a lot, be safe :)

Getting pranked happens. The real issue here is that anyone would be so despicable as to use Bandera in a gag or a prank. The dregs of humanity. And at a time when Russia is trying to annihilate Ukraine. They're Russians? What a surprise.

He is a controversial man, but still this man fought for the independence of Ukraine and was in Nazi camps...Russians fear his name like fire now, that's why there is so much misinformation. If you can prove your point, you're welcome

Translation:
I am disappointed...
If he didn't know who Bandera is, why is he commenting on it at all... and I don't know why they drag writers into politics at all... They have a sore ear for Russia and Ukraine and for wars in general... sad...

As a matter of fact, "Bandera" is the Spanish word for "flag," as in a country's flag, or "Our Flag Means Death." So, Mr. King was not the only one who had not previously heard of this Bandera person.
