On April 17th I will be giving the Adda Bozeman lecture at Sarah Lawrence College (
more information on time and location here). The topic, naturally, will be Conquered into Liberty, or more precisely, Conquering into Liberty: The Deep Origins of the American Way of War. Adda Bozeman was a remarkable woman, a biography of whom
can be found here. A refugee from Europe she started a career as an attorney and then became a wide-ranging academic, teaching international relations at Sarah Lawrence until her retirement in 1977. She wrote a number of deeply thoughtful books about culture and international politics and - remarkably enough, given SLC's reputation - was a very tough-minded conservative.
