Approaching the English-speaking readers' community

These past days, my good friend Daniel Fernández Masís gave me an interesting idea: to reach out bookstores in the United States that might be interested in selling my books.

I did a thorough research of bookstores specialized in Queer literature (their Spanish-speaking customers could want to read Fugaz amor eterno) and in Fantasy books. After all, my Chronicles of Koiné are already in English (with a translation that I can be proud of--not bragging, just saying) and were published this year.

I ended up finding bookstores located not only in the US, but also in Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia. Go figure.

Since all my works are published via Amazon's KDP, I have the possibility of requesting printing of any quantity of author copies in any of the markets where Amazon has direct presence in. These include--yeah, you got it right--all the countries listed above.

Also, for the US and UK, I selected "Expanded Distribution" which means the books are sent to the catalog of major wholesale book sellers, such as INGRAM. This way, the books can be purchased by hundreds--most likely thousands--of bookstores in those two countries.

However, among the millions of titles available via Amazon, my books constitute barely some drops of an endless ocean. So, contacting the bookstores directly not only creates awareness about the existence of my 'babies', but also helps me stand out a bit from that myriad of titles. It's a titanic task.

As another initiative to let the US reader community know about my books, I created a giveaway here in Goodreads that just ended a few days ago. I'm anxiously waiting to see the first reviews of my 'baby', who so bravely has stood for all these past years all kinds of readers. getting reviews that range from 1 to 5 stars.

Most of Las Cinco Razas' reviews are positive, thank goodness, so I hope to find the same reaction among my first English-speaking readers about The Five Races. Time will tell.

In the meantime, I keep writing, as that single activity fills my soul and soothes my heart like no other professional activity I've done in my life.
