God is For Us

A neighbor brought by a misdelivered package the other day. We had never met, but clicked right away, and I invivted her inside to chat. My catboys go into hiding when they hear a stranger’s voice, and being downstairs (and certainly safe from the “stranger”) Caleb decided to wedge himself under the recliner. He almost got himself stuck! And I’m wondering…why in the world are you afraid, little one? All your life, I’ve protected you, cared for you, provided for you…you are safe and you don’t even know it. I bet you know where I’m going…

Fear happens. Anxiety has a way of creeping into our lives. Struggles are inevitable, but they are useful. Pain and grief will come, but these things can grow our faith. God is greater than all our fears and doubts. The valleys in life make us stronger and fit us for the Kingdom to come.

Romans 8:31-32: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?” Sinclair Ferguson helps me understand it this way: “[God] opens His arms to us and says, ‘I have given you my Son. Do you think it’s even credible that if I have done that, I would not take care of you and look after you?’”

Isaiah 40:26 says,
“Raise your eyes on high
And see who has created these stars,
The One who brings out their multitude by number,
He calls them all by name;
Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
Not one of them is missing.”

Believer, you can’t see those stars from under the recliner. Come on out. Jesus is King! God is with you in your trial, unexpected health issue, heartache and disappointment. He’s got all of this, and He’s got you.
