Author and US Army veteran Ed Patterson has launched a program called Operation Ebook Drop, in which independent authors donate free access to their ebooks to soldiers – US and allies – deployed in combat pretty much anywhere. It's a great idea, in its infancy, and I hope big publishers will follow.
