How I Publish My First Book
When I look back to when I was a teen, dreaming to be an author, it took me over ten years to finally publish my first book. But the question is, how? or where to start?
A writer probably has over 100 ideas, and half are already tried and forgotten in the draft. I'm not exaggerating, I've been writing since middle school, so I have many, many stories, ideas, and incomplete/complete manuscripts, but which one to choose? Which one to publish?
My dream was to write a Pirates & Mermaid book. I did... sorta. I privately published it, and I was not happy with the result. I don't even remember my age, but I remember that I failed completely. So, I got completely blocked trying to fix it. I spent so many years trying to figure it out until I emptied my brain.
I needed to take the book out of my mind. Just for a while until I figure it out. So, I start doing what I love the most: writing just for fun. I submerged myself in what I loved, mixing ideas and concepts that made me felt in love with reading when I was little. I want to mix everything I love in a book: true love, curses, magic system, royalty, competition, battle, and DRAGONS! I just exploded with everything I'm obsessed about, and indeed I got obsessed with it.
I got inside this story so deep I could hear the character's voices, feel what they were feeling, and see the beginning, middle, and end before starting the first book.
I fell in love with the story.
And that was the signal. That was what I needed. Believe. Believing in a story like it was real. Being able to write and re-write countless times because I believe in this book, idea, and the world that I had in my mind.
And I knew I wouldn't stop until the book was published.
And that book was The Prince Who Fell in Love with the Dragon
I don't want to rest until I find all those who can love my book as much as I do. A book about deep love, the flame of wanting to sacrifice the whole world for one person, the fear of battles, dragon attacks, dangerous villains that take away your sleep, and a story that remains stuck in your soul. That is my goal, and I will find those who love this type of story the same as I do.
