Olath's Bride - Background.

I don’t quite remember how or why I initially stumbled across the legend of Johann Konrad Dippel. Thankfully, I did. It spawned an entire storyline, characters and a forthcoming series of books based on that brief encounter. Inspiration can come from anywhere.

Speaking of which, the setting for this story was a very personal reach back into time for me. I jumped headfirst into a writing competition at the last moment, which required a bit of short-cutting to ensure I completed the word count in the allotted time. Time travelling back to the 1970s, I tapped into memories of a simpler time in my life where dreams were free to roam, unencumbered by the realities of daily life. This also provided an interesting perspective of looking at experiences through fresh eyes, mixed with memories of nearly sixty years of living with mature eyes.

The result was this story and the subsequent ones to follow. An interesting mix also developed through the storytelling that yielded a roller coaster ride of emotions. It is sweet, funny, morbid, shocking, touching, but most of all, it is a love story. As far as the future of these characters, if you keep reading, I’ll keep writing. Deal?
