Heading to Nebraska!
I have been asked to speak and give a writing workshop at the Norfolk Public Library's 16th Annual Literature Festival on Saturday, July 31 from 9-4 pm. I've never been to Nebraska before, and am looking forward to flying into Omaha and staying for a couple of days. I was invited since my book That Book Woman is a 2011 Golden Sower Award nominee -- yay! If any of you are from Nebraska or planning a trip to the area, you can call the Norfolk Public Library at 402-844-2108 to find out more about the event.

It's been a while...
Wow, I guess it's been a while since I've had a blog! Looking back over the last things I posted (quite a few) years ago, makes me realize how much I miss giving updates about my work and what I'm doi

The biggest news...I have a new YA novel coming out soon! "Wrecked" (Caitlyn Dlouhy Books/Simon and Schuster) hits stores March 15, 2022! Like my very first YA novel ("Making the Run," HarperCollins, 2001), "Wrecked" is set in rural Kentucky and it deals with some heavy issues, like drug abuse, but it's also about first love and family and friendship. And something more...but I'll reveal that at a later date.
I really hope readers connect with Miri, Fen, and Clay, three 16-18 year olds, who tell the story from their three different points of view. I hope the story resonates with readers who are interested in a gritty view of life in a rural America where sometimes drugs appear to be the only way out. More soon!
