Rage

Eyes express the unquenchable rage
The key to dissipating it is in our eyelids
Close them for a moment
Pause. Breathe. Give yourself time.

Everything settles, silencing the pounding heart,
Relaxing the twitching muscles,
Retracting the bulging eyes,
Calming the nerves that are firing incessantly.

Just close the eyelids for a moment
Let the world before you disappear
Let the wound inside you heal
