While spieling on about John Irving's masterpiece, A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY, during World Book Night, a local reporter for a newspaper I didn't know existed happened to overhear me.
Nice to get the word out because I firmly believe it's so important to engage people in actively reading--and to convince them of its wonderfully secret pleasures.
John Irving is one of my favorite authors and I was lucky enough to hear him read the baby Jesus scene at Harry, Carrie and Garp (J.K. Rowling, S. King and John Irving) a few years ago.
