Marrying a man you've never seen in person is risky. But then so is marrying a man you think you know. Sometimes there are surprises along the way. The success of mail-order marriages depended on a number of things--maybe honesty about who you were and what you believe would be number one.
Such marriages are not uncommon even nowadays. In fact, I found a posting of several personal ads as they were called, Dec. 2022 to be exact.
My question is would you do it? Would you marry a man you'd never seen? Moreover, my heroines traveled a great distance leaving behind family and familiar surroundings. Would you do that?
