Travelling across the country with two preschool children by train with all our possessions in a few trunks. Being homeless in Vancouver for three months with three preschool children.

I think I crave adventure because I had a very safe and stable childhood. Seems to me there are two competing desires in every person: the desire for safety, stability and order; and the desire for adventure and freedom. I had a good basis of security in my life that set me free to seek my adventures.

I deal with this idea in my book, A Planet Called Imagine. The intergenerational tensions are due to this conflict. The young people are seeking adventure and freedom, while the older generation want security and order. Which desire is more powerful in your life? Why do you think this is?
