River is young and losing his way. After being kicked out at seventeen, River finds a new family within the SOSMC. A family he loved, cherished and was loyal to above all else. When that trust is threatened, River walks on eggshells, trying to ignore the evil voices in his head. He finds solace in the unlikeliest of places, but can he overcome his self doubt?

Nina is extremely hard of hearing, wears hearing aids and uses American Sign Language, which is usually a barrier between her and the outside world--her family notwithstanding. Finding her car broken down, and an ASL friendly shop, Nina's future is beginning to brighten. What seems like a whirlwind romance for her becomes a lifeline. Will she be able to hold on to River when his past threatens everything they have worked together on?
