Jack Slocombe I do quite like a character I can identify with on some level. Some hook into their person that allows me to wear their voice like a second skin. I find that helps when writing my own characters, like an actor finding a way into them, be it a leader of an ancient cult, fantastical beast or a parent trying to protect a child. I need an emotional hook I can share with them that helps my adopt their viewpoint, no matter how diabolical. But that's just me, and you need to relate to me as much or as little as you like. Such is the splendor of variety.
