Nocturne Academy & Christmas Box Set Teaser
Hi, I’m Megan Latimer and I’m sure I don’t belong here.
That’s because “here” is Nocturne Academy–a weird private school in Frostproof, a town in rural Florida. I moved here with my aunt after my mom died and my dad decided solo parenting was hard work, and expected to finish my high school career in the dumpy local Frostproof High.
Instead, my aunt–who has always kind of been the weird one in the family (she’s into Wicca and doesn’t care who knows it) presented me with an acceptance letter to Nocturne Academy. Which turned out to be a freaking castle surrounded by a moat–all hidden in the middle of an orange grove–(none of which shows up on Google Earth, by the way.)
The minute I walked into my new school, I felt out of place–way out of place. That’s because everyone here seems to have special abilities. There are the Nocturnes, of course, who are all pale and always sipping some red liquid that looks suspiciously like blood… the Faes, who are too beautiful to be believed–they look like Instagram came to life and decided to take Fourth Period English for fun. Then there are the Drakes, who seem to have a darker half, hidden inside themselves–don’t ask me what they’re all about, but I’ve heard you don’t want to make them angry.
Last are the Sisters–witches, to be brutally honest. That’s the group I’m supposed to belong to because apparently, I come from a long line of witchy royalty. The trouble is, there’s nothing magic about me…
Well, except for the necklace I’m wearing–the one with a black key that I found at the flea market–the one that won’t come off no matter how hard I try.
And then there’s Griffin–the tall, bitingly sarcastic Nocturne boy who confronted me on my very first day. Who is he and why am I so drawn to him? Why does the strange black key around my neck tighten and throb whenever I am near him? And why does he have a lock around his own neck that seems to match it?
This sneering, aloof boy withy the face of a fallen angel–he’ll barely talk to me. Yet he faced down the bullies who wanted to grind me to dust and acted like it was nothing. Why can’t I stay away from him, even though all my new friends warn that he’s trouble?
Am I courting my own doom in the halls of Nocturne Academy? I have no idea. In fact, I’m only aware of one thing: Griffin Darkheart can’t seem to leave me alone and I am just as helpless to stay away from him.
Even if it means my death.
