Experimenting with 1980’s throwback-style book ads.

WRITING JOURNAL: Back in the 1980’s a commercial illustrator named R.O. Blechman created a graphic look-and-feel for advertising that pretty much defined the way newspaper ads looked for years. It was a mix of placement, typestyle and whitespace that I always found compelling. I’ve decided to experiment with some “throwback” newspaper ad styles for my next round of online advertising for my novel GRONE. Not sure if it’ll get any traction, but they certainly have a different look than most book ads I see on social media, so maybe they’ll stand out on social media feeds… I’ll keep you posted…
