Manic Monday...
Hey my lovelies!
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I just want to reiterate this… the many changes at my job that have happened throughout this year are really starting to get to me. And I don’t just mean because it interferes with my writing (though it does) but also just life in general. My schedule keeps getting changed, without discussing it with me. Plus other things I can’t really get into because of confidentiality. But it’s really taking a toll.
Things are going a bit slower in the writing department because work is demanding more of my time, plus I still have to sleep and spend time with my family. So I’m not being afforded the time I’d like to be able to write. This really sucks for everyone.
I honestly should have been done writing Breaking Ground a couple weeks ago. Instead I’ve been so burnt out because of the job that pays the bills, plus dealing with some family things, that I just feel… stuck. I’ve hardly written, and I’m sorry for that. I need to get my butt in gear, I know this. But every time I tell myself that this time things are going to go right and I’ll be productive, and things will work out.
Yeah. Life happens and kicks me in the figurative balls.
My creativity just feels like it’s gone dry. Though I did write a little today and I’m so excited and proud of that! Even though it wasn’t much, it was more than I have in the last two weeks.
So, go me, I get a gold star!
Because I’m so excited for the BRO CODE series and I can’t wait to get it in your hands. I think there’s just been so much of everything recently that it’s hard getting back into the groove, no matter how much I want to dive in and be able to write 2-3 chapters a day! But I will get there. I’m too stubborn not to.
Also, I’m working on revisions for Kiss Me at Midnight and that will be released wide soon.
Speaking of!!
Exciting opportunity. I’m looking for a couple of beta readers who can go through my Betting on Love series and give me some feedback. I have two beta readers but they’re more focused on Breaking Ground, and that’s where I’d prefer them to focus their attention. So, if you’re interested, just reply to this email and let me know!
Reading Rewind will hopefully start next Friday! But I can’t make any promises. I honestly don’t know if I have the spoons to add that to my list. But I DO want to get them done. There are a lot of books I’ve read recently that I really want you guys to know about. So it will be coming, however, it may be a 2024 thing.
If you are an author and would like to have your book reviewed, please fill out this form. If M/M romance authors have new releases coming out those I will definitely review for you!
Also, if you’d like to sign up for a review copy of Breaking Ground, you can click here. Though please note, these will not go out until late November or early December.
Weekly HooplaWe are almost done watching The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix. (If you have kids who are interested, please mind the content warnings as this definitely not a kid-friendly show, so proceed with caution.)
I’m still on my M/M mafia book kick, and if you have any book recommendations that are M/M mafia, or any type of morally gray character (bonus points if their man is a sweet cinnamon roll), please send me all the links!!!
You can check out what I’ve been reading by following me on Goodreads!
Thank you soooo much to everyone who recommended books so far. Please keep them coming!!
So, be prepared that most of my reviews for the next couple weeks will be full of mafia/criminal protagonists. Though, I did read some that weren’t. But I’m not sure if they will make my top reads. I’m still working on that.
Also, I’ve been working on my author services side of things! You can check out Author Bytes to see what available or to join the Facebook group. Currently, I’m offering beta/alpha reading, proofreading, concepts, and similar services exclusively for romance!
This month’s goal for sales/KU royalties, earnings from Substack/Patreon subscribers, and affiliate earnings seems to be going strong so far. SOOO… if you want to help a girl out, check out my Betting on Love series or upgrade to a paid subscription! ;)
Reminder, you can manage your subscription to LOVE BYTES by clicking the button below. There are several sections/topics you can subscribe to that are not automatic, or unsubscribe from sections/topics you don’t want to continue to receive updates on. This is also where you can upgrade to a paid subscription and get access to even more content.
The Nitty GrittySo, as you can see, I still have two writing/author goals and one personal goal.
Things are going to be pretty much the same with my author goals until I finish writing Breaking Ground. And as I said previously, I’m going to keep the reading every day goal until at least until the end of the year.
I kept the sales the same for this week (which, I’m happy to report I far surpassed the goal last week) and despite knocking my chapters down to five, I haven’t been able to meet that yet. But hopefully this is my week!
It’s been a tough couple weeks but I really need to get back to it.
My boys are feeling lonely and feisty.
Reminder: Every week I complete all three goals, I will share with you (available to all subscribers, not just paid subscribers) a chapter from a paranormal romance I’m in the middle of writing!
Wrap-up and RemindersI will get the next chapter of Breaking Ground out on Friday.
Also, what did ya’ll think of the first chapter of Shadow Kissed?? Can’t wait to be able to share more with you.
Of course, as always, I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who reads these newsletters, my books, follows me on social media, and enjoys what I’m putting out into the world. I honestly couldn’t do it without you. <3
There’s a few links to important posts that have gone out, if you wouldn’t mind taking a few moments to go through them. I think you’ll find them to be mutually beneficial.
