Justice, as an ideal, is merely a human construct based upon a quaint notion of ‘Truth’ winning the day. Truth and, perforce, Justice, in their purest form, can never be based upon kindliness - only cold, hard fact. The rub is that on this planet, like it or not, everyone lies - their Truth is known only to them, and may or may not be reality-based, even assuming arguendo (not a reliable assumption) that the speaker believes their own words; what is fact and what is fiction resides in some netherworld to which we have no reliable access. In practice, Truth and Justice are measured by judicial (or, worse still, popular) opinion. Perhaps that is the least kindly cut of all. But it IS reality.
