Our Iceberg is Melting by John P. Kotter

Our Iceberg Is Melting Our Iceberg Is Melting by John P. Kotter
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

As with most of the other reviews for this book, it was a book recommended to me through a work related meeting on leadership. I read it on my own and it was not required reading for work. Disclaimer over, I think.

Anyway, I do enjoy a good fable, and the bit of comedy woven through because our main characters were penguins kept the story light-hearted and not death-defying. I also know very little about the lives of penguins, i.e. if they are stationary or nomadic or whatever else.

It is a well put together story exhibiting the eight steps of culture change and I think it does it well. I do agree that more people should read it, but I also agree that it shouldn’t be forced upon work colleagues and meetings scheduled to talk about it and so on.

This recommendation came out of a voluntary educational program my company provides for those who want to participate and that was it. No strings attached no follow up. I think this is why I enjoyed reading it and plan to reread it in case I missed something. Worth a look if it’s something you’re interested in.
