In a different timeline, we are in love &
the world is still broken.
We rest on each other like marshmallow pillows &
shout our blessings to the glow-in-the-dark stars.

In this fold of universe, we are strangers
who never sleep, but I am the nosy neighbor,
and I won’t apologize for
peeking into the alleyways of space-time.

This is how we know each other:
I overheard you in a dream.

In this slice of universe, we pass notes
through a letterbox that lives nowhere.
Sometimes– if I go there &
press my face to the glass screen,

I can almost hear us at peace.

Combining random prompts this month with my effort to write poems about topics/themes I don’t spend much time with, despite loving– romance, sci-fi, animals, fashion, the internet, the internet, the internet. We’ll see what happens! As always for challenges like this, I am grateful to write in partnership with the Cheer Peppers. Visit them here: https://cheerpeppers.wordpress.com/2024-napowrimo-team/
