Imagery in Haiku

Cafe Haiku is doing an interesting session on Imagery in Haiku on Saturday. A discussion on all aspects of the power of images in such a short form.

I will be speaking about the link and shift method which makes a haiku stand out. Poetry also requires a shift away from the banal in which the mind discovers something unexpected or surprising. Its not easy to make the shift as most poets know. Its even more important in a form of poetry like Haiku, which has only three lines and less than seventeen syllables.

Its not easy to write a good poem and its just as hard to write a good haiku.
