Badger, Bear, Bobcat, Coyote, Deer, Fox, Raccoon, Skunk, Squirrel . . . oh, all the adorable little animals.
I’d only intended to do eight out of the nine (eight is such a nice number for packs of cards), and I’d pretty well had it narrowed down until I learned that the coyote was the state animal of South Dakota (I enjoyed my MN State Symbol collage so much that I made one for North Dakota too, and then, while I was in the mood, went on to make South Dakota as well. And then Wisconsin. And then Michigan). So what with one thing and another, I couldn’t decide which animal to drop, and so I fell back on my usual strategy (to quote Cinderella in Into the Woods, “My decision is not to decide.”)
The problem is that baby animals are so terribly cute, and it’s so easy to make a slightly humorous drawing with them. I may yet cave and draw a beaver, cougar, chipmunk, moose, otter, pine marten, porcupine, rabbit, or weasel–so many adorable options!
I’m still going to narrow it down to eight for the pack (but I’ll have all of them in 5×7 size). And maybe, if I do get around to that extended list, I’ll work my way to a second pack of eight.
