It's alive!
Book six of the Sara X series, "A Deep State Betrayal" is now available. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DCW982PV/... This is a book that took me forever to get out there. It involved a concept that I felt might be too absurd when I first started writing it. Current events have made it seem less absurd.
The basic concept is that the Deep State wants to assassinate the president and vice president. They find a willing pawn in a Secret Service agent who feels trapped in his job and craves money and advancement. The SS agent hires a professional assassin and replaces a member of the current counter-sniper team with his assassin. Sara learns of the plot and tries to intervene to prevent her friends from getting killed.
I know, I know, it's ridiculous to think the Secret Service would let an assassin near the president. Then we had the Trump assassination attempt. My ridiculous concept started to feel a lot less ridiculous. I started writing this about three years ago and it's been stuck on my computer since then. I'd come back to it from time to time and add a bit more here and there, but I just wasn't sure the idea was believable enough.
Then the Trump assassination attempt took place, and I decided, yeah, it just might be more reasonable than I'd thought. So, the book is now out there if anyone wants to read it. The Kindle version should be free starting next Wednesday, August 21st through around the 26th. I like the story. I'm not sure anyone else will, but that's always the case with a new book. Reality is rapidly becoming stranger than fiction. My crazy idea from a few years back is a lot less crazy-looking today.
