COVID Dreams and Other Things

Picture Today is the first day in a week that I haven't felt like I was breathing through straws, or that my head would explode. We got COVID again. Thankfully, it was AFTER the birthday bonanza. I am glad for that. I'm also glad for another opportunity it gave me - the inspiration to write my next story. And it all started with a COVID dream.

Given that my dreams are bizzare in normal times, it's no wonder that mine with COVID have been really strange. When I had a dream about being stuck in a hotel and finding a body floating in the pool while a wedding party was trying to set up around everything, it inspired me. There's a story, I thought, and rather than dismissing it as nonsense like most people with stuffy heads and achy bodies did, I mulled it over. Soon, I had an idea for a story, it grew, and today I finished it. It's a long story titled "A Day Like This." What do a paralegal, a librarian planning a bachelorette party, and a rock star's wife have in common? Nothing, until they find the body of the hotel event planner dead in the pool shortly after the entire lobby saw them arguing with her. Now what?

We'll see. I was aiming to write something lighter after Singularity, and the  mission is certainly accomplished. It will likely blossom into a novella by the time it's done, given that my rough drafts are pretty bare and I tend to "fill out" in rewrites and revisions, Best of all, though, it was a story I really got into. I enjoyed writing it, and maybe it kept that brain fog from being so bad.

It felt great to be writing again. Everything else, not so much. I'd say today I'm back to about 90%. I'm back to work, eating better, and have more energy, but I still tire easily and have those random aches and pains. Healing is happening, and I'm improving each day. At least COVID got one part of my head back in gear. The rest is improving. And about this nose - folks, it's never been right.

That's all today. Have a Happy Friday tomorrow and a wonderful weekend.

Bye!
