SUMMATION: The series follows struggling student Yun Ga Min as he works to form a study group in a school notorious for its dangerous atmosphere that puts him in particular situations that expose his unique gifts.

MUSING: "If you wanna be somebody...if you wanna go somewhere...you betta wake up and...whoop some folks arses...while you study!" Or whatever Whoopi and Lauryn Hill said. This is the mantra that is the vibe of this action-comedy, 'Study Group.' Listen to me when I tell you that I LOVED THE ABCD'S outta this action whopper of a series! I am a LOVER of quality produced and choreographed martial arts movies (I'm not a cinephile...totally) and this series...is giving the business. If you enjoy 'Office Space' and mash it up with 'Dangerous Minds' and 'Kick-Ass', then watch this. This series is also a genre love letter to all the martial arts faves featuring Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li. It also interweaves your fave action anime/webtoon [Mashle], and the classics 'Old Boy' and 'Battle Royal.'

This series is for those of us who were bullied. The unprotected who need to get their lick back and keep their grades in check...even if struggling. And the dreamers.



I need you all to understand how amazing (and dedicated) actor Hwang Min-hyun who is our lead in the series is. I was familiar with him from his time via my favorite K-drama 'Alchemy of Souls', so I was excited to see clips about this series. Then I learned new things about this young man, such as he used to be in a K-pop group and...he did ALL of his own stunt works in this series!!! The BTS clips of him in the show working the steller scenes in this series took my breath away. [We also get a cameo from another fellow Alchemy of Souls fave as well].

I had an absolute fun time watching this series. It gave lessons and grit. As you c-walk to the credits, stick around for the end of the last episode.
