FEBRUARY UPDATES: Mom Life, A Coffee Disaster (almost), and Current Projects/ Future Releases

Hello Readers!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful February! It’s been an interesting year so far, but February FLEW by compared to January. In this update you’ll find:

A personal check-in so you can get to know me better!A review of what readers have been interested in lately! An update on current projects and future releases!Book Recs! (Romance books on my TBR by authors who have no affiliation with this – they just write good books!)My birthday was this month!

I turned 32, and I’m feeling pretty great about it actually! I spent some time with my family and kiddo, ate some very chocolatey cake, and let my kiddo watch the less violent parts of Pirates of the Caribbean because who doesn’t love sword fights?

Oh! The coffee disaster! One dreadful, desperate morning, my coffee maker had the nerve to quit working! After a decade-long relationship, it just gave up. Poor thing. Anyways, I got a new one. Felt like a traitor. I think I’ll name it once it stops feeling like I betrayed a friend. Any suggestions?

Mom Life = Busy Life

February had a lot of beautiful days in our area, which was surprising! We took every opportunity to explore the outdoors when it wasn’t gross and icy. The other day, we were lucky enough to have a nice, cool day, sunshine, and a free afternoon. We are SO READY for Spring!

A Successful Giveaway & What Readers Have Been Reading

Earlier this month, I did a giveaway on Amazon where readers could get Who The Hell Is Jackson Pell for completely FREE!
It was so much fun to see new readers discover the series while some of my (very appreciated!) familiar readers shared how much they liked the series. It was a great way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and my birthday!

If you missed the giveaway, the series is still available to read FREE with your Kindle Unlimited subscription. The books are also available for purchase in both ebook and paperback formats. Click here to check out the series on Amazon!

What else have readers been reading?

Although Christmas has come and gone, I’ve been so excited to see that reader interest has continued through January and February! Don’t forget, there’s no wrong time to read an adorable (and spicy!) holiday rom-com. It’s a fast read and so fun to dive into during the last of the cold weather days.

Christmas Is Doomed is available at most retailers, but here are a few links to the most popular ones.

Currently Working On…
(and other things to look forward to)

This book has put me through so much.
*laughs nervously*

This will either be my most favorite thing I’ve ever written, or I will be eating cookie dough throughout the day on its release day.

There has been so much support and patience from readers regarding this project, and all I can say is thank you. Believe me, I can’t believe it’s not out yet either, but all the work that has gone into it is worth it. It is already so much more of a story than it started as. This book makes you laugh, cry, hope, scream, and hope some more.

Three Summers Later will be releasing sometime in the next months. I don’t have an exact day yet – I’m trying to keep the pressure low. It will be available well before the start of summer, so get ready to lose yourself in it no matter when you have your vacation time scheduled.

If you’ve so kindly asked about this book in the past, thank you so much. I probably have your social media handle written down in my journal somewhere because the handful of you that have reached out (even in the comments on old posts!) are the absolute best!

Leave Me Bleeding: A Vampire Romance was previously published on Kindle Vella before it left the platform. If you didn’t know, Kindle Vella has shut down completely, but I removed Leave Me Bleeding when the story was still in its beginning stages due to various changes on the platform that I felt were unfair to both readers and writers.

While I wish the platform had been made available in more countries before Amazon shut it down, no fear! Leave Me Bleeding is still coming out as a full-length, finished novel this year!

Leave Me Bleeding is a love story set in a very violent, tense world divided between humans and vampires. Here are two short excerpts from Leave Me Bleeding:

How it starts:

I can still see her face — my sweet, sweet sister. Charlotte.

All we wanted was to see beyond the wall. To see whether the rumors were true. We wanted to see whether society was totally destroyed in the Vampire Kingdom, overrun with barely-human creatures and painted with blood and ash.

It wasn’t. The Vampire Kingdom, or the VK, as they call it, wasn’t anything special. The city we happened to look in on was just that — a regular city, abandoned during the day.

We never should have snuck in. We should have known there would be traps to keep us on their side of the wall until sundown when they could come out. We should have known there was no going back. Otherwise, there would be more stories in the United Lands of Humanity.

It’s too late now though. Charlotte is gone, and I’m here, in this cell.

During the day, the sun streams through slots in the warehouse ceiling overhead, eliminating any need for daytime security. But at night, when they come, there’s no chance of escape anyways. Not until they choose you.

My name is Quinn Vreeland, and I’m blood donor number one thirty-seven. I have been at the Human Distribution Facility near the VK border for forty-three days. My sister was sold to the vampire king on the third day, and two days ago, one of the guards told me a buyer was coming for me.

I don’t have a choice. All I can do is wait for them to unlock the door so I can run like hell.

When they meet:

When hands try to force me into the open seat, I push back hard, and I fall. There’s a sound of frustration — someone is clearly pissed off — and I see the vague shape of a man moving out of the van, waving his hand dismissively and swearing as he goes. He jumps out, and they shut the door behind him.

There’s a single light overhead, dim, but bright enough that I notice the other girls are staring at me. It takes me a moment, but I slowly realize I’m not lying flat on the floor.

I’m in someone’s lap. Someone’s large lap. I blink, my vision starting to blur.

It’s not all women in the van. There’s a man.

He’s looking down at me with black eyes, lined with a sliver of gray. Long curtains of brown-black hair fall past his shoulders, and surprise lights his face.

I feel his hands holding me in place as if he caught me and doesn’t know what to do next, his strange eyes fixated on my neck where Cavin had bitten me.

I must look like I’m dying. I’m bleeding out in his lap.

I reach up my hand, not sure what I intend to do with it, but it brushes against something cold. Something metal.

There’s a cage on his face — a muzzle, clearly designed to fit a human.

I frown, wrapping my fingers around one of the thin, metal bars.

“Thank you,” I murmur, and his hands tighten, fingers pressing firmly through my shift dress, securing my back and waist to keep me from rolling off his legs.

“Don’t thank me yet,” he murmurs, his voice rough like the rolling waves of an ocean. He grimaces, his upper lip pulling back, and his fangs glint in the dim light.

“Vampire,” I murmur, extending my pointer finger that had been looped through his face cage. Delirious, I stroke my finger down the length of one of his fangs, the longest one I’ve ever seen. “Please,” I struggle, my voice little more than a croak. “Help me.”

Book Rec’ Time!

Today’s book recs are coming directly from my personal TBR list. I’m currently reading All The Missing Pieces by Catherine Cowles, and it is so hard to put down. I am absolutely loving it, and if you love audiobooks, the narrators are fantastic! The ebook is available on Kindle Unlimited.
