Tune up

There are two things in particular that I do NOT enjoy: waking up early and climbing up a mountain. And yet, here I was, in India, doing both. At 6am the sacred mountain of Arunachala sat silent in the mist. With twenty other pilgrims, we plodded up to the cave of Sri Ramana Maharshi, a sacred place for meditation.

Outside the cave, just as the sun announced itself through the fog, our small group chanted “Om Namah Shivaya”, a plea to the Divine to remove obstacles to our experience of unity and deep peace. Our music at once connected us and announced the coming of a new day – I felt a lightening of Spirit, almost as if I could float.

Inside the cave, cross legged on the floor, I had a vision of our pearl-blue planet as if I was looking down from space. It was a beautiful scene and the music of our chanting was still vibrating through my body. In spite of all the challenges faced by the people and nature of our beautiful earth, I was able for a moment to see the beauty too. I was reminded of our innate human capacity to experience the higher vibrations of goodness, beauty, love and hope even in the most challenging times.

I came away from the mountain with a renewed intention to keep the balance, to sing the music of positivity even in dark times, to illuminate connection and the goodness of our divine human spirit. With that in mind, I’d like to invite you to notice how you can tune up your own vibration – perhaps with gratitude for a spring flower or a smile offered to a stranger or a prayer whispered for healing to all those who suffer.  One positive intention at a time, we can create a momentum to tune up our precious world.
