Riding the Crazy Train

Wow! What a wild ride July has been.

That pretty much sums up how this month has been shaping up so far, at least for me and my family. Dramatic events have been par for the course as I attempt to move toward both my writing and reading goals.

I must admit that my heart has been grieving heavily for what has been happening in my home state, especially in the communities of Kerr County. There are just too many wonderful teen memories associated with not only the town of Kerrville, but with other towns situated along the Guadalupe River. I won't lie, it's definitely affecting my writing, and will in no small way come out eventually in my books. I write from the heart, and as I said, my heart is hurting right now.

I'm reaching deep with this next book, Her Redneck Rescuer, to keep the humor in Burn and Becky's story. Burn wants to keep getting dark on me, but I'm not letting him win that battle. He's meant for bigger and brighter things. And Becky is going to make him live up to his full potential. Their going to both realize just how big and strong she can be when push comes to shove.

After a very heartbreaking and tearful discussion with my mother, who still lives in Texas and regularly visits Kerrville, I made the decision to help out the relief efforts in the only way I know how. Half of the royalties I receive from the two Texas based book series will be going to support the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. The first donation is already on its way.

On the upward ride of the emotional rollercoaster, the personal and professional support that I've been receiving from my family, friends, and fellow authors have kept me going forward. I have several new author friends to thank for much of that encouragement. And I can not say enough about the amazing support coming from my Threads friends.

I want to give a special shout out to Jenni and Natasha from The Enchanted Epilogue podcast. I'm both thrilled and honored that they have chosen Her Redneck Ranger to feature in their podcast airing Thursday July 24th at
theenchantedepilogue.com

I encourage everyone to check out their podcast as well as their FB page at The Enchanted Epilogue.

I will be posting the August Midsummer Mysteries book list soon.

Rest in Peace Ozzy. You will be missed.
