Why I Do What I McDo

One of the reasons I like being on Azoth Khem is the quality standards we’re held to. Stuff gets edited, reedited, yelled at, sent to its room, gets one last stern talking to and then is given a treat before it’s released to the public.

Here’s a nice list of current accolades.

Now you have no reason not to buy our stuff. Head on over to AzothKhem.com to begin your journey.

Allow me to share a moment when you must love the internet. From an email to this newsletter account.

I saw your post on Threads about the Hashmallim (first pic below) and how they terrified humans. My father is a rabbi, so I asked him to look with me. He said your version got much right, but was probably just a turn on for lesbians. And this is how I came out to my father. He’s taking it well.

Just another day in the life of McSciFi.

AI kept making my version of the Indian goddess Manasa (second pic below) look reptilian. Kind of a cool look, but not what I wanted or what the story called for. After some back-and-forth with the AI tech folks, it was decided to focus on the human hair, thus requiring a human face, and build from there.

First try was a winner.

As for her being topless, there are many traditions where worship or meditations are done in the nude, and AI notes if they exist for your deity of choice and goes from there. Simply put, my Christian cockroaches (third pic below) are always fully clothed.

After seeing other authors complain about how Amazon handles reviews, I opened the rabbit hole and dove in. What I found made me happy and pissed all at once.

Happy, since there are pockets of fans all over the world who love my stuff. Nothing less than a 3.5-star review worldwide with a solid 4.5 average. I’d love for you to see reviews like this. The links will take you to the original posts.

5.0 out of 5 stars – A Great Science Fiction
Their interactions are really crazy and give goosebumps. Futuristic atmosphere amazes the readers with the twists and turns of the plot. Recommended to all.

Pissed because the way Zon is set up, no one knows about anyone else. I spent over an hour going through individual sites, tracking down reviews. In fact, earlier iterations of the book are also disconnected. I have submitted a formal request to address this issue. At least then people could see there are a bunch of reviews, also all positive, when they look for my titles.

I’d also love for you to be able to read this gem I found.

5.0 out of 5 stars – I’m hooked!
I’m really loving this series, and can’t wait to read more. I couldn’t help but get invested in the carefully crafted characters, and their backstories while following their journeys. Good stuff.

The same is true across the board for all my titles.

Basically, if you like my stuff, you’re in good company. Now I have to figure out how to introduce you to each other.

The bottom two images are from The Brittle Riders and Goptri of the Mists, respectively. The first is the introduction of Drobniar, a reptiloid madam of a Kalindorian brothel, to Sland. The scene happens in Book 3 of The Brittle Riders and serves to cement Sland as the most empathetic killer you’ll ever meet. The bottom scene takes place just as the gen-O-pod (TM) war is winding down and humans have finally been eradicated. A dragon lord, in Goptri of the Mists, enjoys a nice cold beer after a hard day’s apocalypse. The blood on her hand is just a nice touch. Both images can be found, along with many others, in the scenes from the books link we recently tossed up.

Oh, this is fun, I had to add a disclaimer that the images are NOT of real creatures. Just like the “NO SEX IN WAITING AREA” signs in maternity wards, it’s there for a reason.

Lastly, I have noted an uptick in people posting on science fiction writers’ pages or blogs, that sci-fi is too violent or socially strident. To which I say, “And…?” Sci-fi doesn’t come from a vacuum, it is a reflection of our times and the hopes and dreams of the author. For example, I see a future which can be peaceful and productive, I just don’t see humans being part of it.

Until next time, stay safe and sane.
